At OsteoandSpinal we use adjunctive treatments such as medical acupuncture to assist with pain relief. According to the NHS, acupuncture involves stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscle. This results in the body producing endorphin which is a pain-relieving substance.
Currently, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) only recommends considering acupuncture as a treatment option for:
- Chronic pain
- Chronic tension-type headache
- Migraines
- Joint pain
